Laser Hair Removal In Glendale, CA

Laser Hair Removal Treatment

Laser Hair Removal is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment made to reduce unwanted hair on the face and body. The procedure involves using concentrated light beams, or lasers, that target the pigment (melanin) within the hair follicles. The laser produces a light that is absorbed by the pigment, effectively damaging the hair follicle to inhibit or delay future hair growth. This method is popular because it can treat various areas, including the face, arms, legs, underarms, back, chest, and bikini line. While the treatment significantly reduces hair, it does not guarantee permanent removal, and maintenance sessions may be necessary. The number of sessions required differs based on specific factors such as hair color, skin type, and the area being treated.

Laser Hair Removal in Glendale, CA, is suitable for individuals who are tired of the routine of shaving, waxing, or plucking unwanted hair. It’s especially effective for people with dark hair and lighter skin, though advancements in technology have made it possible for nearly all skin tones to benefit from the treatment. Most people begin to see results after the first few sessions, with optimal results usually achieved after six to eight treatments spaced several weeks apart. The results can last for months or even years, depending on individual factors and maintenance treatments. To experience smoother skin and fewer ingrown hairs, consider booking your Laser Hair Removal appointment at New Look Skin Center in Glendale, CA.

Laser Hair Removal

Getting rid of unwanted facial and body hair has been a dream for women and men for centuries. With the advanced Laser hair removal technology that has become available to us in recent years, this dream has become an actuality. Hair removal lasers have been in use for the past 10-15 years and have been FDA approved since 1997. Laser hair removal is a long-term, stable reduction of re-growing hair after an average of 6-8 sessions. The number of treatments required depends on various factors, such as hair color, coarseness of hair and hormonal problems. The coarser and darker the hair, the sooner it will go away, but keep in mind since Laser hair removal is not 100% permanent, you will need to do touch up or maintenance treatments every few months or every year.

There are different kinds of Laser hair removal machines out there, but at New Look Skin Center each treatment is performed with the one of the most effective and top of the line lasers on the market, the Candela GentleMax/Pro. What makes the GentleMax/Pro so amazing and different from other laser machines, is that it can treat almost all skin types, is fast, effective and is less painful thanks to its integrated cooling system.

Benefits of Laser Hair Removal:

FAQ

Laser Hair Removal functions by directing concentrated light beams into the hair follicles. The light absorbed by the pigment in the hair, which heats up and damages the follicle, lowering its ability to produce hair in the future. The process targets hair in the active growth phase, which is why several sessions are needed to treat all hairs effectively as they grow in different cycles.

Immediately after Laser Hair Removal, you may experience mild redness and swelling in the treated area, similar to a mild sunburn. This is a normal reaction and typically subsides within a few hours to a day. It’s important to avoid sun exposure and apply sunscreen to protect the treated areas. Cool compresses and moisturizers can help soothe the skin.

It is strongly advised to avoid tanning, whether from the sun, tanning beds, or self-tanning products, before and after your Laser Hair Removal treatments. Tanned skin rises the risk of side effects, such as burns or pigment changes, because the laser may target the darker pigment in tanned skin. It’s best to wait until your tan has faded completely before undergoing the treatment.

No, Laser Hair Removal is not harmful to lymph nodes or internal organs. The laser energy used in the procedure is designed to penetrate only to the depth necessary to reach the hair follicles, which is just below the skin’s surface. The laser does not affect deeper tissues or organs.

Certain medications, particularly those that increase sensitivity to light, should be avoided before Laser Hair Removal. These include antibiotics, acne treatments like Accutane, and some herbal supplements. It is recommended to discontinue these medications at least one to two weeks before your treatment, but always consult your healthcare provider before stopping any prescribed medications.

Hair does not fall out immediately after a Laser Hair Removal session. Instead, it typically takes one to three weeks for the treated hairs to shed naturally. You might notice what appears to be new hair growth during this period, but this is the shedding process. You can gently exfoliate the area to help the hair fall out, but avoid waxing or plucking.

An intense beam of light is penetrated into the skin; it is then converted to heat that is absorbed by the targeted hair follicle, which causes damage to the hair but not the surrounding skin. The GentleMax cooling system makes the process even less painful, more comfortable – yielding much better results.

Slight redness and swelling lasting a few hours is common. In rare cases, discomfort or small red bumps may last up to two days.

You must avoid sun exposure, tanning beds or tanning lotions/sprays for at least four weeks before treatment and two weeks after procedure. The slightest tan makes it harder for the laser light to pass through your skin and heat the follicle.

No, because the depth of penetration is too shallow to be absorbed by any organ or lymph nodes.

Patients taking Accutane may not have laser treatments, they must wait 6 months from the date they discontinue use. For patients taking antibiotics, they must wait 1-2 weeks (depending on what kind of antibiotics they use) from the date they discontinue use. WE DO NOT SUGGEST OR RECOMMEND TO STOP YOUR MEDICATION UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES FOR ANY LASER TREATMENTS. YOUR HEALTH AND SAFETY IS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT TO US.

Depending on the area treated, it can take up to 3 weeks for all the hair to completely fall out.

Yes, all areas being treated with the exception of the face must be shaved 1 day prior to treatment. This will allow you to receive maximum results.

Clinical studies show up to 90 percent hair reduction; however, every person will respond differently.

All hair is temporarily disabled during each treatment, none of the hair follicles are removed hence, a sequence of treatments is necessary in order for results to become apparent. The number of times needed also varies from person to person.

These side effects typically last for only a short time, but in rare cases, can last up to a few months or be permanent.

Patients should avoid waxing, plucking, threading and bleaching the area, 4-6 weeks before the treatment. There shall be no tanning of any kind 4 weeks prior to treatment. The area to be lasered (except the face) should be shaved 1 day before treatment. Facial hair can be trimmed if long. Avoid using any makeup, deodorants or lotions prior to treatment. Avoid oral or topical photosensitivity medications 1 week before treatment, except for Accutane, which requires a wait time of 6 months minimum.
